Veronica Downing BA (Hons) Dip COT

Veronica qualified in 1976 in Occupational Therapy, and has over 30 years experience as an Occupational Therapist working in brain injury and stroke rehabilitation, general rehabilitation of physical and neurological conditions with the elderly, children and adults with learning disability. She continues her clinical practice with individual assessment and rehabilitation of clients with varied conditions. She graduated with an Honours Degree in Psychology in 1991. In 1994 she established her private practice as a Consultant in Occupational Therapy and Expert Witness, providing assessment, advice and treatment services. She has Court experience and is instructed equally on behalf of claimants and defendants and also single joint instructions. She was Lawyer Monthly occupational therapy Expert of the Year 2016

Justine Fawcett BSc (Hons) Dip COT

Justine qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1991 and in 1996 gained an Honours Degree in Health Studies. She has wide clinical experience in the rehabilitation of people with acquired brain injury, neurological diseases, burns and hand injuries, elderly rehabilitation, amputation and orthopaedic conditions. She has continuous clinical practice, specialising in the rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury as the Head Occupational Therapist and Clinical Specialist within a specialist community rehabilitation service. She joined Veronica Downing Associates in 2001, is Expert Witness Accredited, has Court experience and is equally instructed for claimant defendant and jointly instructed cases.

Maggie Humphries Dip COT

Maggie qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1988. She has worked within the Health and Voluntary sectors in both community and hospital settings. She is an experienced Occupational Therapist whose work has included rehabilitation of elderly and adult mental health conditions, orthopaedics and surgical conditions, stroke rehabilitation, adults with HIV and AIDS, adults with learning disabilities, oncology and palliative care. She continues to specialise in cancer care. In 2001 she joined Veronica Downing Associates, is Expert Witness Accredited, and has experience of working for claimant, defendant and jointly instructed cases.

Lucy Martensz BSc (Hons)

Lucy qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999 from Oxford Brookes University. Her clinical skills include providing high quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention to people with complex conditions, spinal injury, work related issues, mental health, stress/anxiety and learning disability. She is experienced in postural care assessment. She currently works as an independent occupational therapist providing services to adults with a variety of conditions.

Jennifer Youngs

Jennifer qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2007 and currently works as Senior OT in Suffolk Adults and Community Services. She is an Approved Mental Health Professional qualified to detain people who present with a severe mental illness; this work is conducted under the Mental Health Act 1983. Jennifer has extensive knowledge on equipment and home adaptations to meet the needs of people following illness or injury and carries out home visits for the following:

  • Assessment of mobility, moving & handling equipment & advice to carers
  • Assessment for home adaptations including
    • Level access showers
    • Stair lifts & through floor lifts
    • Fixed track hoists
    • Additional toilets or extensions for bedrooms and showers
    • Ramps and additional entrances to the home

She prepares occupational therapy reports on housing adaptations and equipment to meet disability needs.

Jerome Sheldrake - Company Assistant

Jerome is our Company Assistant and the first point of contact for new enquiries. Jerome liaises with our clients, solicitors and service users and handles the company�s financial and general administration.
