Veronica Downing BA (hons) Dip COT
Veronica qualified in 1976 in Occupational Therapy, and has over 30 years experience as an Occupational
Therapist working in brain injury and stroke rehabilitation, general rehabilitation of physical
and neurological conditions with the elderly, children and adults with learning disability. She
continues her clinical practice with individual assessment and rehabilitation of clients with
varied conditions. She graduated with an Honours Degree in Psychology in 1991. In 1994 she established
her private practice as a Consultant in Occupational Therapy and Expert Witness, providing assessment,
advice and treatment services. She has Court experience and is instructed equally on behalf of
claimants and defendants and also single joint instructions. She was Lawyer Monthly occupational
therapy Expert of the Year 2016
Justine Fawcett BSc (Hons) Dip COT
Justine qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1991 and in 1996 gained an Honours Degree in Health
Studies. She has wide clinical experience in the rehabilitation of people with acquired brain
injury, neurological diseases, burns and hand injuries, elderly rehabilitation, amputation and
orthopaedic conditions. She has continuous clinical practice, specialising in the rehabilitation
of adults with acquired brain injury as the Head Occupational Therapist and Clinical Specialist
within a specialist community rehabilitation service. She joined Veronica Downing Associates
in 2001, is Expert Witness Accredited, has Court experience and is equally instructed for claimant
defendant and jointly instructed cases.
Maggie Humphries Dip COT
Maggie qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1988. She has worked within the Health and Voluntary
sectors in both community and hospital settings. She is an experienced Occupational Therapist
whose work has included rehabilitation of elderly and adult mental health conditions, orthopaedics
and surgical conditions, stroke rehabilitation, adults with HIV and AIDS, adults with learning
disabilities, oncology and palliative care. She continues to specialise in cancer care. In 2001
she joined Veronica Downing Associates, is Expert Witness Accredited, and has experience of working
for claimant, defendant and jointly instructed cases.
Lucy Martensz BSc (Hons)
Lucy qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999 from Oxford Brookes University. Her clinical
skills include providing high quality occupational therapy assessment and intervention to people
with complex conditions, spinal injury, work related issues, mental health, stress/anxiety and
learning disability. She is experienced in postural care assessment. She currently works as an
independent occupational therapist providing services to adults with a variety of conditions.
Lucy has undergone Expert Witness training through Veronica Downing Associates since joining in 2016
and has prepared reports on behalf of the Claimant and Defendant.
Jo Featherstone
Jo qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2000 from the University of East Anglia. She has extensive
clinical experience of assessment and rehabilitation in the areas of neurology, paediatrics,
rheumatology, general medicine and acquired brain injury. She continues her clinical practice
in community rehabilitation with adults.
Jo has prepared reports on behalf of the Claimant and has undergone Expert Witness training through
Veronica Downing Associates since joining in 2017.
Hubert Sakkariyas
Hubert qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2000 with a Bachelors degree from SRM College of
OT in Chennair, India. He gained an MSc in Psychology in 2003 and is undertaking a Masters degree
in Neuro-rehabilitation. He has specialised in Neuro-rehabilitation, gaining wide past experience
working in complex trauma and orthopaedics, elderly medicine, cancer and palliative care. He
continues his clinical practice as a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in Neuro-rehabilitation
working with in-patients and in the community.
Hubert has prepared reports for the court and on behalf of the Claimant and has Court Experience.
He has undergone Expert Witness training through Veronica Downing Associates.
Dawn Crafer
Dawn qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1996 from the University of East Anglia. She has extensive
clinical experience in the areas of community rehabilitation, with a special interest in rheumatology,
chronic fatigue and pain management, and out-patient services. She currently practices in hand
therapy and rehabilitation and in rheumatology which are her particular areas of expertise and
interest.
Dawn has undergone Expert Witness training through Veronica Downing Associates since joining in 2017.
